January 16, 2012 is the first time our District has provided a Professional Development and training day devoted to Technology. We are offering you a variety of sessions all designed to assist you in gaining the knowledge you need to be technology facilitators and enhance your technology integration skills. This will give our students the opportunity to learn from you as you mentor them in increasing their technology skills.

An important part of technology integration should be focused on training our students to be successful digital citizens. We have a variety of Online Safety resources available. You can also visit the technology web page at: LCMCISD Online Safety Resources.

Professional Development efforts at LCMCISD are based on State of Texas and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) NETS-T proficiency levels. Although these are national standards, many states (including Texas) are using these models for developing technology proficiency levels. You can view the different ISTE standards for students, teachers, and administrators below:

NETS-S Standards for Students
NETS-T Standards for Teachers
NETS-A Standards for Administrators
Our latest LCM Professional Development Plan can be found here. LCMCISD 2012-2013 Professional Development Plan
This plan calls for us to apply the technologies we use in our everyday lives to our educational environment to increase student learning, adopt effective practices, and use data for continuous improvement. The plan presents five goals essential to learning powered by technology. They are: learning, assessment, teaching, infrastructure, and productivity. Please review the ISTE Standards as well as the National Education Technology Plan in the coming weeks when you have the opportunity. Many of our upcoming Professional Development activities and initiatives are aligned with these resources.

Thank you again for participating in this exciting new opportunity!
