According to www.wikipedia.org Moodle is defined as a free software e-learning platform (also known as a Course Management System (CMS), or Learning Management Systems (LMS), or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)). As of December 2011, Moodle had a user base of 72,177 registered and verified sites, serving 57,751,114 million users in 5.8 million courses.

Moodle is designed to help educators create online courses with opportunities for rich interaction. Its open source license and modular design means that people can develop additional functionality. Development is undertaken by a globally diffused network of commercial and non-commercial users, streamlined by the Moodle company based in Perth, Western Australia

Moodle has vast capabilities and implications for the classroom. It provides educators with tools to create a course web site and control access so that only their students can view the site, it also provides a simple and powerful way to upload and share materials, give quizzes, lessons, and surveys, and hold online discussions and chats.

There are so many great online resources that will be very helpful in developing and implementing your own online courses, workshops, updates, etc. It offers an effective way for sharing and collaborating on resources that can be used in an educational setting. The first website that is a must for everyone to visit is the Moodle site. You can create an account or log in as guest.
